"If San Jose (Almeria) is a version of heaven on earth (which I think it is), then La Gallineta is where those in heaven would take their meals especially the rice. The spirit and technique come from Alicante, David and his wonderfully international team...do the rest. I could walk you through the menu, what we ordered, what we really liked, but I don't think that matters so much. Just go. If you're in the area, or close, or planning a vacation somewhere nearby, go. Make it a point, it's well worth a stop (hola, Michelin), go twice. And order rice. Lots of it. Order the home made ice cream, or the violet ice cream. Ask if there's anything new that they've added from their travels and imagination. See the art on the walls, listen to the blues wafting in from the courtyard. You'll find the leisure afternoon full of flavors and technique from around the world and back again. In the end, it comes back to the rice. A beautiful little restaurant near some spectacular beaches with outstanding food and a wonderful staff not sure what else one could ask for. Try and it and thank the food muses later."
The premises in the restaurant are wheelchair accessible and can also be used with a wheelchair or physiological limitations, and there is complimentary WiFi. If the weather conditions are right, you can also have something to eat outside.

"This restaurant has a very good location overlooking the bay, is spacious and has sufficient waiters for one to be able to act as a hawker extolling it's apparent virtues to potential clients passing by. We gave it a shot. There are lots of menu's on display and clearly the emphasis is on seafood, as one may expect in this delightful seaside town. The menu is extensive with lots of options and it was good to see that allergens were clearly marked. The gluten free was readily taken care of with a seafood salad but, unfortunately this was a disappointing choice because although it was priced at 16.50 euros it consisted mainly of chopped iceberg lettuce, with some slices of tomato, two prawns, six mussels and six clams. The seafood spaghetti was mediocre in that it was almost cold, the three mussels were overcooked and the spaghetti probably came out of a can. The pork loin was the best of a mediocre bunch, but, the potato chips were hard and seemingly undercooked and the salad consisted of some lettuce with grated carrot on it. This dish arrived about 6/7 minutes after the other two dishes but was at least served hot. The house rose/clarete and dry white wines are good and reasonably priced as was the cafe. Service was friendly and cheerful but not particularly attentive. There are many restaurants in San Jose to choose and amongst all this competition it is surprising and disappointing that the standard at this venue was not better. I am unable to recommend this one."
In pleasant weather you can even eat in the outdoor area.

"I was all very rich! I ordered mixed salad, garlic and dessert couland chocolate. the most beautiful coulant. It's an expensive place, it cost me, and I was on my own."
