"We live in Launceston and Hallams is one of our favourite restaurants. Good service, cosy fire in winter, nice view of the river in summer. We often just have the fish and chips and a glass or two of wine - there's a good selection of wines by the glass."

"Lunch. Skipped breakfast to have a nice lunch at the Gorge. WOW when the food came out I was so disappointed about the serving size. I know it said light lunch however that was more of a tasting plate then a lunch! Fortunately the salmon linguine was beautiful but I have left hungry and not impressed with amount of money i had to pay for such a poor portion. Not worth the $"

"Ate lunch today at Steves. Where the meal may have lacked in areas the exceptional staff made the experience very pleasant. Chantelle (excuse me if spelling incorrect) was exceptional and is a credit tot the facility. <br/>I had the garlic prawns, followed by the brandy snaps, and a cappuccino. <br/>While the prawns were probably a fraction over cooked for my liking, the exceptional garlic cream sauce was the perfect partner. <br/>A well made cappuccino in a restaurant is becoming more rare by the day. Couldn 't fault today 's effort perfect coffee to complement the dessert. <br/>Brandy snaps were unfortunately piped with cream from a can which was a little disappointing because on the same plate was a perfect scoop of French cream with some bitter dark chocolate pieces. If that cream was whipped and piped into those brandy snaps it would have been a 10/10 dessert. <br/>All in all a pleasurable lunch. Happy diners were seen about the room. I feel $28 for garlic prawns is high end but I would happily pay the $4.60 for a cappuccino of that quality every day if I could. <br/>Don 't know if there is a 'Steve ' at Steve 's grill but if this customer can offer some advise Hang on to your staff made dining there a happy experience."

"When in Launceston I was hoping for some good Italian food. Well go no further than La Cantina on George Street. My husband choose the Veal Vitello Marie and said it was the BEST meal ever! I can vouch for this as I had a taste too. My meal was the House Pizza which was full of fresh ingredients. Beautiful Italian operatic music by Carrera was playing in the background. I highly recommend this restaurant while you stay in Launceston. Enjoy the many meal choices on the menu."

"Menu changes seasonal and has a lot of great vegan items marked clearly. the menu was funky when we were there, but we were in the mood for mushrooms and everything was delicious. there are a lot of great options to choose and their cocktails were also beautiful. the staff was extremely helpful. that was all we expected for the price, and the proportions were actually quite large. I would highly recommend checking this place for a special evening."
