"This is a wonderful find, very popular with the local workers, a traditional roadside restaurant, but don't let that put you off plenty of locals were eating here two. We went at lunchtime with a couple of friends, even though we live nearby, we had...never been. What a find we have paid a lot more for a lot less elsewhere nearby. At lunchtime there was a set menu, soup, moules, charcuterie, joue de boeuf, cheese, desert, coffee and wine, the price euros each. Plenty of food for everyone, dishes were served on platters and you helped yourselves, everything tasted really well, we'll be back"

"I am totally enchanted, from the first time I set foot in the beautiful peaceful garden at La Maison VARI it has never failed to disappoint me. Don 't be mislead by the small menu, each dish contains wonderful tasty fresh local produce, and is complimented...by their own delicious wines, the Red reserve my own favourite. Finish your meal with the 'cafe gourmand ' coffee with a selection of taster desserts; just perfect.. The service is excellent, staff are all friendly and very helpful. Thank you all for helping to make my recent birthday celebrations with family so special. (My only complaint is that I live 1,552 km away from La Maison VARI..."

"We always love staying at Bignac and are visiting almost every year. Jean-Louis and Brigitte are great hosts and the hotel is wonderful. Super relaxing. We had our wedding here 5 years ago and have very fond memories. Everyone at the Chartreuse makes us feel very welcome. They always are going out of their way to make our stay extra special. Hope to be back soon!"

"We couldn't have been happier upon arriving at the restaurant. A truly great setting and beautifully appointed. You really can't over-estimate the beauty of the place. Sorry to say that this was the only thing that was outstanding. The food was uneven and some dishes (a crab starter for example) were bland, and others arrived luke warm (a fish dish) and others (Magret de Canad) just average for the region. The service on the other hand was spectacularly slow. After two and a half hours we had only had our starters and about eight rounds from the waitress serving bread and amuse bouche. We had to mention it to the head waiter to facilitate the rest of our meal. At such a restaurant and such a price this is not acceptable. And at no point did the chef or manager approach us wiith an explanation or apology or an offer to reduce the bill. Based on our experience I would heartily recommend going for an apparatif and a walk around the gardens, but would be very suspect about going for a meal."
