"While we could see Chiang Khong Huay Xai Laos over the Mekong River. We could see a very large red and blue vertically striped awning right above the river. We said it was the Houayxai Kaew restaurant in Laos. We've decided we're going to lunch the next day. It was the lunch trip. A tuk tuk to the bridge, a bus over the Meakong, a $35 US dollar visa each and another tuk tuk tuk in Huay Xai. The restaurant was beautiful, open air with a great view of the river Meakong and Chiang Khong Thailand on the other side. About us in the restaurant was the huge red and blue striped awning that we had first seen from the other side in Thailand. We had a wonderful meal, the main course was a very big roasted fish with three sides and Lao beer. Service was very polite and attentive. I enjoyed the restaurant and the meal very much. I would like to go back from Chiang Khong if I didn't have to pay for four Tuk-Tuks trips two bus trips and a $35 dollar visa for each of us. All that said it was funny!"
