"Very fun beach club day! Really liked the menu for a La carts, the fun pass for the kids large space! It was a big property but lots to do! Way better inflatables than others next to us. Awesome, safe, clean!"

"We had not been to this resort since several years before Covid and had read many really bad reviews but also many really good reviews so we went with an open mind. Our experience at the Sabor was very comfortable and good. I 'm not sure why people were so picky in their negative reviews because this was not seen here at all. The pool was clean, the food very tasty compliments to the chefs (though it could be hotter at buffets and also for the tasty but luke warm soups), the room though not a new or reworked unit was very clean, neat, and comfortable. The A/C worked great. The staff everywhere were polite, friendly, and helpful. Kudos to resort manager Karina, Sunnyside manager Niccilas, and servers Miguel, Eduardo, and Yana. The el Patillo food and service was good too. For little problems, we did have to once get the toilet plungered, the fridge froze a coke and split open, and our sink once needed the drain cleaned but that 's about it and these issues could occur anywhere. The room cleaners/attendants were competent. The mini bar was not so well stocked. The outside bar staff were attentive and worked hard to keep up with patrons and drinks sent via the servers to the restaurant. The beach and equipment were in good condition and clean, and the beach and pool service for refreshments and snacks was awesome. There were taco and burger snack bars. The beach has nice sand to walk on but because it is off of a shallow coral reef you need shoes in the water but that on the other hand is good for close by snorkelling. Entertainment and activities were good. Again, the 2 a la carte restaurants had 5 star food for variety, flavor, cooking, and presentation but I only gave 4 stars because it was often cooled off by the time it was served. Because they did not manage to keep the flames lit under the trays or keep the flames fueled the breakfast buffets were often cold. We expressed this issue to management and then saw an effort to manage this better. The adjacent Secrets buffet is also available to Sabor but it had the same not hot food issues. The outside bar did have a full assortment of alcohol but not the one near the inside snack cafe. The shopping mall across from the entrance was unbelievably over priced compared to the shops in San Miguel in the order of 2x or more for just about everything so no wonder there were few customers inside, The gym and spa were first class. There were no bothersome time share/club people but it was there if you were interested. Despite other comments the 3 resorts ' wifi coverage was strong and fast and free everywhere including in the rooms! This must be a recent most positive change made by management. The Dreams next door is a modern high end and recently renovated Hyatt property, and the Secrets is quite nice as well. Both Sunscape Sabor and Secrets apparently are to be renovated by Hyatt in the future. I think the people that submitted recent bad reviews must have been born with a silver spoon in their mouth and should have booked and paid for a 5 star resort if that was their expectation. We have travelled extensively for 20 years either for business or pleasure and do belong to a 5 star vacation resort plan (not Hyatt though it is similar) so I believe we have a good perspective on resort and restaurant quality. We still like to, and do, travel outside our plan to take in other areas and cruises. While this Sunscape Sabor resort may have a 3 or 3 1/2 star rating I would give it a solid 4 star and a bit more if the food were consistently hotter and the facilities (though they were modern, functional, and clean) could be refreshed a bit. It seemed like all the staff, and I mean all, were a real team and geared to make your stay a pleasant one. This is an excellent good value quiet, safe, accessible resort. As others have said, conveniently, a short walk across the road in front of Secrets, is a small taco stand/outdoor restaurant with friendly owners and the best tacos you will have anywhere. They are open for breakfast and lunch for a different experience."

"The best Mayan breakfast on the island . Every morning Doña Chely makes masa balls for fresh corn tortillas and fresh sopes. She makes a ton of food 'to go ' for all the workers in the south. And now the tourists from the hotels and Reef Residencies nearby have discovered her little stand. She has fresh homemade salsas, 3 little tables. A true breakfast experience."
