"Whilst staying at Sandy Balls we fancied fish and chips for dinner one night and searched for the local outlets. Having been warned off the one in Fordingbridge having after reading the terrible TA reviews, we decided to go out of our way and drive up to Downton to Spinnakers as it's now called. What a good decision! The fish was really good! Large and really flakey and tasty. Loads of trips and decent curry sauce. All in all would thoroughly recommend. Note: they only take cash, however they kindly took the order from my wife and prepared it while we went off to the cash point. Definitely returning when in the area again."

"They would think that an evaluation of a Chinese takeaway would be quite the same, but after they review their star review and the last reviews, the golden inn among many others in the opposite. the shop is a little dated, but the staff is very friendly and helpful. we didn't have to wait long until our take is served. prices are average. it was awarded five stars for food safety. the food was tasty and tasty portions. the shop is something outside the beaten track, but is worth visiting."

"We had a family meal with each of us having a different choice. I had Roast Beef, Yorkshire pudding and roast potatoes on a plate that did not have room for any vegetables, a side dish with plenty of well cooked vegetables, the meat was tender and tasty and everything else was really good. We were all enjoyed our meals and the staff were friendly and attentive."

"My first visit here, coming for lunch after a short walk with a walking group. Unable to book food in advance as menus, on this particular day, weren't available online. When we arrived, as the menus said, we had to wait up to 30 minutes for Main Courses. However, for us this was no issue as it gave us plenty of time to chat. Friendly and efficient service from both staff who attended us, although we were attended mainly by Lucy. Wide range of mainly traditional menu choices available. Will definitely come here again. If time constraints are a consideration, then it's definitely worth booking in advance, once the menus are available online."

"We love the Wooden Spoon!! Visit from Salisbury regularly as it is an ideal half way meet up venue for our family. Often prefer it to many of the options in Salisbury when just us two. Food is always freshly made and always delicious. Gorgeous garden, cosy surroundings and really friendly welcoming hosts! Do not hesitate to recommend this little gem."

"We have changed from salisbury for a family meal. it is a very rustic village pub, with friendly service (we were served by one of the young ladies,) a roaring fire makes it very cozy, and delicious food (only a tad on the expensive side) would definitely return for a contract."
