"While most experiences with sushi bars are dine-ins, takeouts can be just as great."

"A group of us went here to celebrate finally getting back to eating in restaurants again, and this sadly was the most disappointing teppanyaki experience I 've had in my life, and I have eaten dozens. One of our group had never done a teppanyaki dinner and I honestly feel bad that this got to be his introduction to it. I 'll go into more details about what issues we encountered, but the TL;DR is that you can do better than eating here. And with how much you 'd be paying for the experience, you deserve more than what you 're going to get here. My partner I think put it best, that the whole thing just felt phoned in. The food was mediocre edible but without providing much joy. Workmanlike. I paid an extra $3.50 to upgrade to fried rice, which resulted in a small bowl of just rice fried with with half an egg. Not very well seasoned, and not much to it. I had steak, and asked for rare (I normally eat medium rare but teppanyaki places always overcook steak). But this wasn 't even close maybe a few bits of medium mixed in with mostly med well chunks. Quality of the food is similar to something you might get at Panda Express, and to be clear I think Panda Express is perfectly fine. But I also don 't drop $30 a plate at Panda Express or take a group to a Panda Express for a celebratory sit down dinner. Different expectations, so I was expecting something better quality what you might get from a mall food court. In terms of entertainment, the show part was just sloppy and poorly executed, to the extent it was even executed at all. The chef spun an egg around a few times, then tossed it into the air and put the spatula down for the falling split. Except he missed so the egg just glances off and splats onto the grill. No redo, or joke or acknowledgement of it, he just tosses the shell and moves on. The next trick is flicking vegetables into guests faces. He manages to eventually get something into two people 's mouths, hits my partner in the cheek right below their eye and then flings one way over their shoulder. The next trick is him taking a squirt bottle of sake and shooting it directly into guests mouths while counting to make chugging whatever was in that bottle some kind of competition. The final trick, a common thing I 've seen at every teppanyaki show, is the onion ring volcano. Done correctly, you get a really cool effect of having flames shoot out the top of a stack of onion rings for a few seconds. Here it literally goes up in flames, as the stack isn 't done right and there was just one big ignition, after which the chef just gave up. And that was the extent of the performance part. Two failed tricks with no repeats, getting hit in the face with poorly thrown vegetables, and then having low quality liquor shot into your mouth from a squeeze bottle. Even typing this now I 'm in disbelief, and I was there. Ambiance was atrocious as well. There was a group a table over that was noticeably drunk and loud to the extent that they were shrieking loud enough to be painful to my ears. Most of the time I was barely able to talk to people in my group sitting less than two feet away. This was ridiculous to the point that even a bar would have asked a group behaving like that to quiet down. Nobody here cares enough to bother. If you 're looking for Japanese American food, there are countless other restaurants in the cities that will do a better job. If you 're looking for a dinner show, this is not going to be one worth going to. This wouldn 't have been worth it at half the price."
