"I got there with my husband and son. It was a terrible experience. 1. They accept babies but they have no high chairs to let them sit. 2. Service was terrible, long wait, waiters stressed and not kind... but the worst is the food...3.incredibly small...portions and very expensive! I ordered a plate of ham and buffala mozzarella' for 22 chf and I literally had 2 slice of ham and a micro mozzarella. My hubby ordered risotto, that was micro small and rice was still crunchy uncoocked. And then we got invited to leave the table because they wanted to give it to someone else!! Terrible experience! Never again"

"I regularly visit Château-d'Oex and had Croûte in several restaurants. the buffet de la gare has the best in the city by far! they have other delicious menu items: rösti, salate, etc. but I always go there for the croûte! I recommend tasting some of their local beer and delicious ice desserts. friendly service."

"On an impulse after a long walk downhill I stopped at le Chalet for lunch on a sunny Saturday. I sat outside on the terrace with views across the mountains and towards the church perched above the village. Service was prompt and friendly. The salad I ate was very good, with several flavours of cheese and served with plenty of bread. There were lots of other customers and a guy stirring a big vat full of cheese for the many fondue eaters! Perhaps the flowery skirts and aprons worn by the waitresses and the swinging musak from the speakers were a slight overdose of Alpine ambience, but on the other hand, when in the Alps, why not. Grey uniforms, rap or rock would be out of place."
