"Barr is a small town, on Sunday not everything is open, our hotel restaurant being closed we had th find something else. L’essentiel is nested in a quiet lane close to the center, it has a terrace but we had lunch inside. Food is really good, typical Alsacien dishes. It is good value for money. The only problem was how long we had to wait between dishes. It felt like they kitchen was understaffed. Do not go if you are in a hurry..."

"We've been going here for a long time and it never disappoints. The food is always good and reasonably priced. The specials often vary from local or French classics (Tête de veau was excellent) to more unusual ingredients such as Kangaroo. The a la carte...has a nice choice of local specialties along with some good salads (especially the one with potato rosti), steak and meat dishes. The fried cheese is very good as are the Lewerknepfles (Home made liver dumplings). The service is warm and friendly and great if you have children. This is my favorite restaurant in Drusenheim for a good quality traditional meal, you can't go wrong. The tarte flambée is also good."
