"I've been coming here for over a decade and Makoto Sushi has never disappointed, not once. Portions are large and the fish to rice ratio is perfect! They spare no expense on the quality of fish they purchase, it's always fresh, top shelf, melt in your mouth awesomeness that can't be acquired at any other sushi bar I've been to(don't believe me? Try it). The prices don't reflect that however, and are very reasonable, probably because the location is relatively small and you don't have to single handedly pay for their electric bill like some sushi bars I've been to. Service is amazing! Even when it's busy drinks are never empty. Always a smile and hello when you walk in and another when you leave. So thankful this place exists..."

"Kind of the worst place I've ever been. eating everything and everyone. I was waiting for my drink. I get my food and sit there 13 minutes after I asked for only basic ingwer, wasabi, a tablet for soy sauce, so I could actually eat. it is a Thursday night at 10 o'clock. they brought all the essential things to me, but I was a solo, so was not high maintenance. I just wanted a beer and some sushi and instead got a mediocre draft and eat that I couldn't eat. I have never written a Yelp review from my car to leave a place, but this time I have it. I refused to pay for food, but of course I paid a beer. I didn't drink much, but I drank it. I can't say if this sushi is good, but it's not worth it. Stay away."

"I'm writing this review because I met Niko over 21 years ago at the Rickshaw restaurant in Woodland Hills. Then it closed and I stumbled into this cute little Sushi joint on the boulevard a year later to find out it was owned by my favorite Sushi chef ever! I had been eating sushi since the 70's before it was hugely popular so I think I can give a recommendation. Please support this small business because they take pride in giving you the freshest fish and most delicious sushi you could find anywhere. I don't live that close and I did move out of state for a few years but I try to visit when I can. The service is consistent and wonderful. So glad Niko that you made it through this past year, I'll be in soon!"

"Really hospitable, and funny, sushi chef for your omakase experience. The fish and style is very traditional edomae style, so you shouldn't expect any fancy toppings and gold flakes. Most of the fish were carefully seared, cured, or smoked with just slight hints of flavor, bringing the fish's natural flavor out. My meal consisted of a good range of red/black snapper, barracuda, tuna, and clams/scallops. Overall a really delicious meal. However, if you are looking for sushi that serves more over the top things, I would recommend going to Sushi Bar instead. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience and with the final price of $240 including tax/tip sake it is fairly reasonable compared to other places in town."
