"From the outside (and inside) this place looks like one of the typical Swiss "Beizen" that normally is good for drinks and heavy simple food. Don't get fooled by the looks, these guys serve one of the most serious steaks this side of the Atlantik. It has the size of a brick, comes on a hot stone with a bit of vegetable and some sauces. The beef is very! good. The owner told us they are selling 4000kg of this a year - For a reason...P.S. the price is a surprice.Better make a reservation."

"I went here with my family to have lunch on the Swiss National Day, 1st. August. It was a convivial atmosphere and there was an accordion band, an alp horn player and a silver band providing entertainment. The restaurant is a wooden chalet with spectacular views of the Simmental, and has seating indoors and outdoors. It is a good place to stop if you are a cyclist or hiker coming up from the valley floor, but is also fine if you just want to drive up in your car. The access road is single track, but tarmac and with passing places. The food is typically Swiss local sausages, veal or pork cutlets, Wiener schnitzel, rösti, chips etc. and with lots of vegetable garnishes, including half a peach or pear with whipped cream! The service is friendly, and the chef came out to shake hands with everybody at the end of the service. The toilets are clean and modern and there is a baby changing table. Main courses cost about CHF 18 25, which is average for the region, and the portions are generous."

"In July we stayed for the weekend at the Bergrestaurant Kubeliap in Saanen near Gstaad Switzerland. This was the third time and it keeps getting better. Our party consisted of 14 people (including 8 kids who loved it! who all ate and slept well. Kubelialp is a traditional simple mountain restaurant/hotel a bit off the beaten path, that has a few double rooms, 4-er rooms, 6-er rooms and one big room for groups with sleeping bags. The restaurant is decorated with typical swiss wood carved paneling and has a lovely old green ceramic tile heating oven in one corner. It is light and airy with great views out of each window. The food has been consistently very good and the wine list is great. The family who run it are friendly and welcoming. Outside there is a large wooden terrace and a very pretty flower garden and it is surrounded by beautiful views, sunny meadows and steep mountains and the sound of distant cow bells. There are lovely hikes starting from there, and they even have their own mountain version of lawn bowling which the kids thought was fantastic. I feel very lucky to have found out about this place, it is a word-of-mouth secret gem that has breathtaking views, great food and where you are made to feel at home right away. Bring your car or hike up. In the winter you can ski to it and I am sure it is very cosy but we haven't tried that yet."

"Nach meiner sehr lange und schönen Wanderung erreichte ich diesen wundervollen Ort. Sehr höflich wurden wir empfangen und wurden aufmerksam bedient. Nach der Wanderung wählten wr zunächst eine Suppe und gingen dann zur Hauptspeise über. Alle Gerichte konnten wir sehr genieße und freuen uns jetzt schon auf den nächsten Aufenthalt. Allerdings werden wir dann ganz sicher auch das Hotel buchen, sodass wir den Aletschgletscher, das tolle Bergpanorama und das leckere Essen in vollen Zügen genießen könne."
