"We ate in the evening when the building shaded the terrace, but there are nice umbrellas to cover earlier in the day. Food and service were great, as one would expect at a midlevel restaurant in Switzerland."

"Although the newly printed menu listed several small meals (such as Käsekuchen, salads,) the waitress told us that they were not a restaurant and did not serve anything beyond what was on display at the entrance. I ordered a pot of tee (for 7.60 francs) and got a very small pot with enough hot water to fill just one cup (which would have costed 4.50 francs).But not everything was bad, the schwarzwäldertorte was delicious."

"In the mill there is a small caffe, where the fine local baker specialties can be made by the wood stove. it also has a small bakery in the house. the baker can be looked at during work over the shoulders. family business with very reasonable trips. enough parking right in front of the house. the company has shop stores in hundwil and in Urnäsch."

"Highly recommended. Very friendly and polite staff. We could feel they cared about the service. Food was of excellent quality, with good portion sizes. The house ice tea was superb, tasting fresh and not too sweet. Naturally a nice location in the historical centre of Appenzell."

"Nice traditional German hotel in Triberg centre. Very close to the waterfalls and other attractions. Though traditional, the amenities are modern and renovated. They also have a vending machine which is good to have in Triberg where everything closes early. Also worth staying here for the delicious cakes downstairs."

"Rooms are very small. Bathroom was tiny but had a tub/shower. Rare in Switzerland. Have to close door to use the sink. No elevator to the second floor. No fridge or coffee maker. Two chairs and small table. No desk area. Good closet space. Restaurant downstairs was very reasonable. No lobby as this is a Restaurant /Hotel. Average Swiss breakfast of cold cuts,cheese,bread and fruit. Free parking. Located right next to train station. Noise was an issue,especially early AM. At a cost of 140Euro it was not a value. Would pay more to stay elsewhere in Appenzell."
