"The scent of freshly brewed coffee and homemade cake was recently drawn through the former small station in Altenberg. The building has been known as a museum, which was opened in 2015 next to the Müglitztalbahn railway station. Photos, documents and rare witnesses remind us of the events in the region at the end of the war. At the opening hours of the museum, on Sundays between 2 pm and 6 pm, visitors often sat in the small guest room next to the exhibition, which was set up three years ago. A small Sunday meeting was created at the time, where you could order a beer or a coffee. Christiane Weickert, museum director Stephan Schirm, took care of the guests and soon realized that it needed more. She chose her idea and opened the museum café. This is open on Sunday from 14 am to 6 pm on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 11.30 pm to 5 pm. “There are coffee, cakes, drinks and a changing little snack for lunch, such as pasta with tomato sauce, hot roast bread or Viennese. That's all. The kitchen is too small and I am alone,” says Altenbergerin. There are 30 seats inside. In beautiful weather, more people can sit outside.
