"This is a place to stop for a meal. A few minutes from Zermatt but without its massification of tourists. Nice and quiet atmosphere, very friendly service in German, Italian and/or English. You can choose between the daily menus or a la carte proposals. The prices are not expensive and the quantity is more than correct, almost too much and everything, with a main course two people can eat. I advise you to make a stop before reaching Zermatt, you will save some money, eat well and repeat on the way down."

"Even if I get bad service, I leave the public reviews for small businesses as I impress that this can be an important platform for business; but my very bad experience at the piazza in grachen has forced me to see my first ever public...Review I visited piazza after a local recommendation in grachen with a party of 4 last week in the late afternoon. we ordered 2 pizzas (a vegetarian/pie and a hawaiian). in the Hawaiian pizza we asked the waiting staff to replace the ham with mushrooms as we are all vegetarian. the service staff assured us that they could be accommodated. we were happy with his accommodating service and decided to also order a rosti that was not on the menu. the kitchen has put something together fortunately. the pizzas were decent, but the rosti came out quite understated. Nevertheless, we did not make it a big problem, as it was special question court, and we continued with the meal. I was for an rude surprise when I received the bill and saw that the restaurant had charged an additional chf 2 to the bill for mushrooms on the Hawaiian pizza that they had assured us that they would replace the ham. after the check with the waiter on the additional fee, the waiter reacted that he did not the owner and not the rules. he also argued with a tense argument in which he claimed that if we had ordered the margherita and supplemented ananas and mushrooms, it would cost much more. his argument doesn't make sense, because I had a hawaiian and just wanted the ham to be replaced by mushrooms? last I checked, ham costs more than mushrooms?! so it doesn't make sense that they charge extra for mushrooms if the customer can't eat ham and the ham has asked to be replaced in the pizza with mushrooms. I asked him why he didn't tell us about the fee he had no answer to. the owner wasn't there where he was supposed to be found. it was a small amount, and I ran late and had to go, so I just paid and left, vowing never back. in so many years of travel I never had to experience such cheap and pathetic antiques of credible institutions. special message for the owner of the restaurant: Congratulations they are now chf2 richer and they get a 1 star free!"

"When we saw this hotel from the outside we werent expecting that much. It looked a fairly unexciting modern building on the main road up the valley.However once we got inside everything got much better.For a start despite them being closed on the day of our arrival everything has been nicely laid out so we could easily find our key plus other useful things such as breakfast times and WiFi codes. There was a number to call them if needed but because of their preparation there was no need.Our room was really lovely inside, with nice finishing touches such as wood on the walls and furnishings. The shower in the room was very big and had both an overhead sprinkler and one you could hold in your hand.Also the WiFi signal was nice and strong in the room.We also had a balcony that we could use for airing our clothes after a days walking.When you closed the door of the balcony you shut out all the noise from the road, which although isnt really busy does carry all the traffic going to and from Zermatt so isnt exactly quiet.Breakfast was really good and we also heard the staff their helpful guests make taxi reservations of looking up the weather for them, which is always a good sign.The price we paid was also good for what we got.This hotel is about a 400m walk from the centre of St Niklaus and the train station but given that most people are here for walking this shouldnt be a problem.As the restaurant wasnt open on our night in this hotel we went to the Monte Rosa restaurant, which served very tasty food at a good price. We had deer stew which was delicious."
