"The poor girl behind the bar on Saturday 15th April around 1pm was very polite and even brought our drinks to the table when the cider needed changing. She was on her own but coped very well. Very worn carpets whiched matched the food. My 10oz gammon wasn’t more than 5oz, in my opinion, when it arrived. No steak knife and the fork was a tiny dessert fork. Sauces all nearly empty. My wife had overcooked sausages, i thought they were ok for my taste, mash was nice but onion gravy minus onions. My wife then went to the ladies a chap was weeing at the bottom of the stairs, witnessed by other customers who reported it to staff members. The area was mopped but the offender remained on the premises, in a VERY drunk state. His mate tried to get him out of the pub but his mate was too drunk to move. We left because the drunk guy was getting abusive, but the management didn’t do anything proactive to move him. Not sure how he was so drunk that they served him. No police were called but a very disturbing experience."

"Hadn't been here for many years, so thought we'd give it a whirl and to be honest we weren't disappointed. We took the set menu for two and after rather large selection of starters we followed with duck, decent proportion too. The courses were perfectly timed, but then the night began to unravel. Last thing you want two courses into three is a minute delay. By the time the main dishes arrived our stomachs were beginning to tell us we were no longer hungry. We asked where our food was and were told we are busy' . Restaurant was only half full but they seemed to be taking endless takeaway orders. Food was lovely and there was a good atmosphereThey banged on service charge at the end which we wouldn't have minded if the service had been better. So another restaurant where they ask you to pay a service charge for the privilege of spending loads of money to have food brought ten yards to you. I like to decide my own tip on merit.Overall would i return? Yes I would."
