"We were in Tenerife, Canary Islands in March for our 30th wedding anniversary. Jamie Munoz, our incredible guide took us around the island for two days giving us a phenomenal private tour experience. We knew it was going to be a great time .. El Teide, Masca valley, La Laguna, Garachiko, Anaga valley .. you know the works .. But what we were not prepared for what was this amazing introduction to the vegetarian end of the Canarian Cuisine prepared by the proud, happy and awesome Chef Jose assisted by his charming wife Sheila. They know how to get their guests the best meals in Canary Islands.. Here is how it goes.. The first things that strikes you as you sit down is the poster that declares the Best Mojo Sauce .... thought it was a huge claim, but trust me, it is. Their mojo picon the spicy red mojo sauce has a soul of its own. I am not getting carried away by poetic banter on a romantic holiday. It indeed was.. its my mouth-stomach unholy combo speaking assisted by my happy heart. And I wondered how they were going to delight a pair of sworn vegetarians.... But pleasantly surprise us, they did.. Part of their secret is that they source their ingredients not from commercial stores but from select producers .. The baby potatoes and the goat cheese they use are incredible.. Started with this yummy soup served with those incredible breads followed by Grilled Goat Cheese with mojo sauce, followed by Papas Arrugadas skinned baby potatoes boiled in hot water and served with Mojo. Never imagined those could be that delicious The Pella that followed , I believe, was the real endorsement of the mastery of the canarian food craft by Jose. Rice cooked just perfect with the right spices and vegetables was a visual delight and a gastronomic experience. We were, by then, as full as barrels. But it was hard to say no to a sip of the honey rum never heard of it but I am glad i did not say no Followed by the piece de resistance to end the meal on.... a great glass of Barraquito coffee Milk, Coffee,Condensed Milk,Ground Cinnamon,A bit of lemon peel without the white to avoid a bitter taste,Licor 43, or Tia María go into making the coffee and are layered as you can see in the picture . You dont just drink this coffee .. you savor it and enjoy it one sip at a time as the flavors of cinnamon, coffee, licor, rich mild, lemon dance on your tongue The price we paid was absolutely reasonable given the incredible treat we went through.. If you are ever in Tenerife, do make a pit stop here and you wont regret it. We are vegetarians and its a pity we can not voice any view on the non-veg end of the fare. But I can imagine ... I write many reviews but there are some that make you happy even as you writ it due to the lingering aftertaste that doesnt seem to go away from your mind... This sure is one of them. Hence a solid 5 rating The ambience, the service and the food .... Great job Jose and Sheila... god bless and stay blessed"
