"We were sent here by Fabio from Quinta do Vallado. The place was busy but we got a table fairly quickly. Our waiter spoke enough English to be helpful with the menu. The food was excellent and the suggested wine was perfect. This was a welcomed alternative after a few days of river cruise food."

"Antes de escolher o restaurante procurei por na zona e nos websites. Fiquei intrigado por este restaurante ter apenas uma pontuação 3 e ponderei escolher os que tinham pontuação mais elevada. No entanto, após consultar a ementa dos restaurantes com melhor pontuação constatei que não passavam de ementas banais e eu queria jantar um prato diferente. Foi então que descobri o prato "Bacalhau à Zé do Pipo" na ementa do restaurante Douro Rio (um dos meus preferidos confesso) e decidi arriscar. E fiz bem! A localização é muito boa, com uma vista fantástica, o ambiente também é agradável. Não tenho nada a apontar ao atendimento pois fui muito bem recebido. No final fui brindado com um prato de bacalhau à zé do pipo como eu nunca tinha comido antes (excelente apresentação, confecção e sabor). Senti-me na obrigação de congratular o Chef.Acho sinceramente que as avaliações que constam no tripadvisor não são representativas deste restaurante, mas também foi a primeira vez que jantei lá.Deixo uma sugestão ao próprio restaurante: o restaurante já é diferente da concorrência e deve-se diferenciar também pela ementa, que apesar de já ser variada pode ser mais inovadora que a concorrência. Se o fizer tem tudo para se tornar um restaurante de excelência para jantar na Régua. Mas é preciso arregaçar as mangas e inovar continuamente."

"We entered the restaurant and asked if it would be possible to serve a group of 9 people at 2 pm. The employee said she would see if it was possible. After 5 min we still had no answer and we asked the employee again if it would always be possible to serve the group. Again no response. Meanwhile, we heard from the kitchen another employee complaining that there were customers standing at the counter who were in the way and who had to go outside . At that moment we left the restaurant and went to have lunch elsewhere. The lack of sympathy in a place that lives only on tourism is impressive, not only did they lose 9 lunches, but also 2 more people who witnessed the situation and left the place. Not only for us but I will make a point of never recommending this restaurant."
