"Staying nearby allowed repeated sampling of this local gem. There is no choice, just today's set lunch: luckily it is invariably delicious. €22 (€25 on Sunday) gets you courses of opening nibbles, a starter, truffade, meat, cheeses and pudding. It's at its best when at its simplest. The truffade is worth going for alone: crispy potato oozing Tomme cheese and garlic (don't wait to start, it's a course in its own right). Other highlights have included perfectly cooked duck, a mousse-like melon sorbet and varied cheese plate. These, like everything, are local. Try the wine from the village or go further afield with something Entraygues-Fel (15m drive away!). This is unpretentious good food, hang on to the same knife & fork throughout. Booking is ESSENTIAL: Sunday lunch was packed with locals, other days the kitchen might open especially for you. Expect to start your meal not long after midday, and stagger away very satisfied a few hours later."
