"I used to really love this place and have been going for years tasty, quick, reasonably priced but my visit today has me questioning what happened to Sushi Tyme. I got my usual chicken teriyaki bento box special and apparently they no longer allow sushi roll substitutions. I have always subbed in a 4-piece spicy tuna roll for the 4-piece california roll and was denied the ability to do this even though I happily offered to pay extra. The price for the combo has gone way up but the quality is not the same dry and salty chicken, no dressing on the salad as there usually is and I know it's a tough time for restaurants and I wanted Sushi Tyme to stick around, but it seems like the quality and customer service is not nearly what it used to be here :"

"I've eaten here 2 times now and it's been excellent each time. It's not a big place, but is definitely a local favorite, so I'd advise making a reservation. The sushi is fresh and very good. I thought the shrimp tempura was a little soggy this last visit, but everyone else in our party enjoyed theirs. Absolutely loved the Gyoza!! You can order it fried (which is how I had mine) or steamed. The dinners are pretty large servings, but they offer a reduced size plate, which is what I'll order next time. It was my birthday, so I got their fried ice cream. Everyone said that I'd really enjoy it and they were right. Unusual dessert and huge, so definitely recommend sharing this with someone else."

"Had dinner here with my UCSB Gaucho who was missing good authentic Japanese food. We picked this restaurant mainly for the okonomiyaki pancake from the menu, which is not often served or on the menu in the vast majority of Japanese restaurants. I wanted something warm in my tummy so I chose the ramen and it did not disappoint with the the rich broth and tasty veggies. The okonomiyaki was crispy and savory with some nice saltiness from the sauce, kept in check by the creamy sauce also present. The agedashi tofu was silky warm and yummy. Overall, a nice experience! The service was great, attentive, and fairly quick after ordering. Medium noise from conversations and kichen hubbub, you can also call and make a reservation ahead of time, which is recommended for Thursdays , Fridays, and Saturdays."
