"My friend's husband booked and requested a nice table to celebrate his wife’s birthday. On arrival the restaurant was full and we were ushered to a table at the back of a side garden with no chance of seeing the Sunset for which this venue is famous . Instead we had a view of the air con units. Our table was high with bar chairs and it was a struggle for an 82 year old member of our group to get seated. Great hilarity as she was hoisted up by younger diners but from there the fun ended as we all sat rather terrified we would tip backwards as the chairs were placed in deep gravel. It certainly concentrated the mind not to over do it with the wine. We waited a long time to have our order taken which sometimes is a good thing when there are plenty of enticing options but in this case we all struggled to find something we liked the look of. Three of the seven of us passed on the entrée as there really was nothing interesting to choose. (Only three options) I decided to be brave and ordered the foie gras with smoked mackerel. Normally I like both but not this time as it turns out. Mixed together with a green citrus jelly on top and a crunchy dry biscuity layer is was a catastrophe. After a further long wait our entrées arrived. Mine, upright on the plate and prettily decorated looking more like a dessert than an entrée looked promising but as the waitress placed it in front of me it fell over on the plate and all the magic was lost. It was simply hideous, both in taste and texture and all the members of the group agreed with me as I insisted they taste it. More suited to a feline that a female was the general census and to insult to injury there was a €5 supplement for this dish. Some redemption was to be found in the main courses, when they finally arrived. Four of us had chosen the porc which was tender and delicious but a very small portion and the a companying vegetable puree was luke warm. I couldn’t tell you what it was as it was now dark. The only lighting was small battery lanterns on the table and as it was such a long time since we had perused the menus the only option for clarification was to pass mobile phone torches over the food. Still non the wiser. The birthday girl had the veal, tasty but a little dry and the food was lined up on one side of the plate.. almost as though the other side was being reserved for a little extra surprise to come. No such luck. Two of our group had Skate. A delicious tiny portion of fish on a slice of aubergine with little blobs of green purée and slithers of crunchy wafer. Overworked and a distraction from the Skate’s subtlety. We didn’t stay for dessert or coffee, it was really too late by then. We complained about the dodgy table and the cat food. (which incidentally was not charged for) Didn’t seem to bother them that we were not happy. They probably hear it all the time. Amazing what people will put up with to dine by sunset."

"This charming place along the highway serves great food. Its equally charming owner, Pauline Amblard, works the tables herself. The 18.5e lunch special was fantastic. Just go to the website and look at the menu! It appears that the associated B&B is equally excellent. On a bikepath and has a pool too. This is a place one should go back to many times!"
