"We booked on our last evening after a local recommendation and seeing it completely full of locals at lunchtime, usually a good sign. We were the only ones eating that night...strange.My husband had Foie Gras...tasty. My daughter and I just had the main course. Her veal was quite good but the mushroom sauce was just like out of a greasy packet, as was my husbands blue cheese sauce on a not very good, tough steak. The fried potatoes were OK. My lamb was like a tough old boot and at least one piece was from the leg of lamb which needs LONG cooking, not frying! My potatoes Dauphine were more deep fried choux 'things' than a recognisable vegetable. The green salad was OK but some leaves were definitely brown. I fed most of my lamb to the house cat because it was so bad it was a joke! We were still hungry and so foolishly ordered dessert. My creme brûlée was crispy but so hot underneath it was hot, not very good custard. My daughters iced profiteroles were covered in burnt, yes burnt chocolate sauce!!! Hard to do but yes it was out of some sort of jar or tin but it was definitely burnt to taste. I just don't know how they could get so many things SO wrong!!! The house cocktail was good and the waitress pleasant but how can the local French eat this rubbish when they have such delicious food being produced on their doorstep. Simply the worst meal I have ever paid for...in fact we were silly to have dessert and stupid to pay for things that were inedible. I still can't quite believe this happened...what was the chef thinking!!! Was he having a laugh on us or does this really, really pass as acceptable rustic French cooking to the locals? I smile now but it was BAD."
