"I have been fortunate to lunch here on numerous occasions over the last 5 years. Self service starter (salads, charcuterie, prawns, pâté) A good main course (photo of faux fillet attached) and choice of desert or cheese.Sebastien is a real down to earth guy; great host that is always accommodating under pressure."

"Café de la Paix is situated between Gémozac and Pons, off the A10 and near the N137. It is open for lunch six days a week, Monday - Saturday, 12 noon - 2pm. The menu changes daily with a wide variation. There is a four-course menu for only 12 euros, including a carafe of wine for two (2nd December 2014). The set menu consists of a buffet starter, main course (usually a choice of four), cheese and desert.Café de la Paix is owned by a Dutch couple called Ingrid and Francois who speak fluent French and English. A friendly couple, they will make you feel welcome the moment you step through the door.Extremely good value and very good home cooking. It is so convenient for the motorway (exit 36 of the A10 - through péage; right at the roundabout towards Gémozac; 1.5 miles/2k turn right to Jazennes; enter Jazennes - straight on until you see it).Ingrid and Francois also host a quiz night once a month and there are various soirées/evenings arranged throughout the year - a popular one being the Indonesian offering delicious oriental cuisine.If there are a few of you i.e. 5+ requiring an evening meal (maybe you’re renting a gîte/villa close by, staying in a B&B, passing through etc.), and you wish to have evening meal you can always contact Ingrid and Francois to see if they can help. They are very accommodating.Highly recommended."

"I really like Lion d'Or, since it changed management earlier this year. Pierre runs a very relaxed and welcoming restaurant serving excellent food and wine. Julie helps with the waiting and bar and Janetta, Pierre's partner, is the chef. There are other staff but I have not met them, yet! ... :~)Pierre and staff speak English and I am sure are multilingual. The food is such good value and cooked/presented to a high standard. There is plenty of space in the restaurant and there is a very pretty terrace at the back for the warmer seasons.I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Lion d'Or. There is a bar too so feel free to pop in for a drink or a cafe. Lion d'Or is situated in the heart of Gemozac, near the Marie."
