"What a wonderful surprise to reach the top of Castel'Alfero and the beautiful Piazza Castello. Sitting outdoors in the evening with lights on the church is beautiful and romantic to the extreme. Being just outside Asti we started dinner with a glass of Asti Spumante....There are a number of choices by the glass, at various price levels. The wine list included a number of half bottles a really nice option as we had a 10 km drive back to our place after the meal. Even better the list included a bottle of Castello di Razzano from the vineyard where we were staying. My wife enjoyed a nice Insalata Fantasia with fresh mozzarella, eggs, tomatoes, and olives. We then focused on the pasta, having agnolotti, a peimonte pasta stuffed with a nut sauce, a tagliolini with porcini mushrooms and gnocchi with meat ragu. All were very good nice size portions and flavourful. Prices were reasonable in the 7 to 9 euro range. Service was friendly and excellent and the food/pastas very good but what made this meal special was sitting out in the evening on the piazza with the beautiful church all lit up very romantic."
