"We found this restaurant by accident passing through Santa Maria at lunch time on our way to the Mustair monastery. We were happily surprised by the interesting menu, relaxed garden seating and the refreshing white wine made by the Guesthouse/Hotel. The restaurant specialises in dishes slow cooked in copper pans, sourcing excellent local ingredients, interestingly put together. For Switzerland's standards, the prices were very reasonable for the calibre of the food. The Ritterhaus building itself goes back around a 1000 years with quite a dramatic history which has led to it being recommended as a place to eat or stay by the My Switzerland website [hidden link] The cellar (where the rest rooms are) has an exhibition of fabulous coaches and other paraphernalia the resident family used in the last century. Highly recommended as an interesting place to stop for great food, friendly service and masses of historical ambience."

"Registered as Hotel Piz Umbrail, the restaurant is famous for being wine, i.e. wine and well-being. From the local owner Ladina with her boss Giuseppe of Palermo, this place offers excellent food and wine, not the cheapest but surely the best here in this place. each dish was excellent, from starters to candy. local wine of high quality, a very welcoming and careful host, all made our dinner a great time. Thanks to Ladina and Giuseppe for the good time and the bread food here."

"Restaurant: typical traditional environment and ambiente. the old owner is a certain person, very helpful. are local, simple, tasty and traditional. the atmosphere and the lighter through the wood spaces of the 13th. centuries are fascinating during the day. a real Swiss experience! the prices are of course also Swiss there: bottle water 10 chf! (9 euro) and the bill was calculated by the owner at our table with pencil and paper. we found this adorable. we did not see the hotel rooms, but we are sure that they deserve the overnight!"
