"The odd one out is a bit of a marmite pub, in that you either love it or you hate it. It is a bit of a local pub for local people but once you get past that it's quite enjoyable. It has a very homely atmosphere. It usually has a mix of both old and young, the old for the excellent beer and cider selection as mentioned above and the young for the ridiculously cheap drinks. Don't expect any frills, but when you're going for a quiet drink who wants that anyway? The beer garden is average size with plenty of seating (and the owners dog always comes to say hello) and the pub itself is quite a large size. The staff are friendly (if you abide the rules) and can be quite helpful. The rules however are strict, particularly the no talking on the phone or no swearing; and if you are seen flouting these you will be asked to leave. Worth a look if you just want a quiet peaceful drink."

"I am a market trader myself on Colchester High Street, and when these guys and gals are in town you're a fool to miss them! They start preparing their veggie, meat and rice dishes in the morning and the beautiful smell of spices waft up the high street! The dishes are full of spice and flavour. There's always a queue and plenty of satisfied customers (and fellow market traders) digging into their delicious curries. They have a little table and chairs set up if you want to sit and munch away. The staff are really helpful and very talented! Choose from a small takeaway tub for £4 or large for £6. Personally the £4 is a proper feast fest and you will not be disappointed!"
