"Restaurants that specialize in local cuisine have always been hit and miss for me and the Bruce Wine Bar was pretty much like that. My friend had the daily soup, which involved mushrooms and was very tasty, and she had an apple and Brussels...salad which she could not finish. I had the Polena fries which were astounding but a bit on the small side for the price, and the Squash and Apple pizza. That pizza was better as a concept than it was in execution. The crust was perfect, but the toppings didn't seem to have any relationship with the crust. It would have worked just as well as a bowl of fruit and pesto with a side order of crust. It was a very messy experience. Tasty but not sure I would order it again. The decor and ambience, and service, were excellent. I was driving, and my friend wanted to order wine, but the cheapest wines were $15 a glass which is a bit of a markup. I'm glad I went and I would give them another try. But this is high end food, don't expect anything else."

"We were visiting the area for the weekend celebrating my 40th birthday and wanted to have a nice dinner out to mark the occasion. My in-laws graciously offered to babysit our newborn and recommended Bruce Wine Bar as they visited a few times for drinks and apps pre-Covid.We sat upstairs at the bar and had a fantastic waiter who was attentive, personable and knowledgeable about each dish when we were trying to decide. Personal touches like offering us a welcome champagne toast really made the experience. During our evening, we shared the olives sourdough and beef tartare to start. Both were light and refreshing. For our mains, I had the market fresh fish, which was scallops, and my husband had the “Beast”. Both were five star and left us wanting even more. Too bad we were full for dessert!We’ll definitely be making it a point to return when we’re up visiting the area again."

"Because I'm not personal for the 80. celebrating my mother's birthday, I tried to think of something else to send. I remembered how much I like to stop at the Cheese Gallery, so a quick review online and see that they deliver!....See a simple online purchasing system where you see all their products (damaging the selection of local businesses) and I have now created a custom gift for my mother to enjoy. The gift consisted of cheese/olive/cracker/red pate for when drop-in guests arrive PLUS some soups/craissants for the freezer for the snowy days that come. The price (only over $100) for so many treats / meals was more than fair and the luck that it brought was really unpaid! Attention to detail is what makes the Cheese Gallery highlight, so even the owner of the shop personally delivered the birthday gift! Thank you to everyone who makes me look good!!!"

"The establishment has street appeal with patio and the building itself. Now, the 855 scotches are interesting. If they’ve missed any, they are very obscure. We had draft and wine with an excellent cheese plate and an order of sweet potato fries that were very tasty. The staff as a whole were great and our server was the best. She even accommodated a couple who just wanted to look over the Scotch menu, even offering water as they read. The Shepard’s pie at the next table looked awesome. Stop in, you’ll love it."
