"I come to the region of Untersee often, and Hirschen is by far my favorite restaurant on the lake. Their cordon-bleu is the best you find anywhere - they have their own butcher shop and the meat is delicious. Same goes for the salads and all the other side dishes, and their selection of local wines is extensive and very very good. The setting is marvelous. There is a wonderful garden under a gigantic tree right by the lakeshore, and their indoor space is a charming room with low ceiling and a cosy atmosphere. The waitstaff is friendly and knowledgable, and the owner of the restaurant, who seems to be ever-present, speaks excellent English and one can have interesting and insightful conversation with him. Overall, this is a great restaurant, and I'll keep returning whenever I can."

"When cycling through the Reichenau Island, we came across this jewel – we almost missed the sign that biergarten said, but were amazed at the fresh and quality of salads and foods available. it really looked like it was (and it was probably) just. fresh only 30 minutes earlier. it is much better than the caffe at the entrance of the island (besides the parking lot, opposite the church). take this additionally 3 minutes to the bike (or 1 minute to drive) to the rich salatstube – it will be worth it! Whether they want only one cyclist-shandy in the shade in the beer garden, or a complete meal in the woollen house or in the free, it really has everything. we had excellent coffee and cheescake to round off our meal. this was our fourth trip to rich, but the first time we noticed the rich salatstube. we'll be back next time, sure!"
