"The only reason I could not give a 5-star rating here is because this place is not 100% vegan. You have super delicious vegan and veggie options I will be very honest here, I live in this region, I go up and down the Riviera Maya 3 to 4 times a week, from Playa del Carmen to Tulum. This restaurant is in my Top 3, no doubt!. I'm so happy every time I go there. I always think when I'm going back. Elda and her employees are very special people, they are so profesional and all the time they are so friendly and respectful. They are always happy with a big smile and feeling so happy to host you. Food is sooooo good. For me, No.1 Pizzas and Pastas is here, they are absolutely incredible, everything on the menu is sooo delicious. Also fantastic drinks, they have excellent wine, very good drinks/mixture, really good beer and their Aperol splash and their Mezcal Mule are definitely one of a kind. It's just a hidden jewel for my family and me. By the way, before I write, I was at least 15 times in this restaurant. So I can tell you every single word of this review is 100% checked. Alejandro"

"I emailed them prior to arriving to find out a bit about the service. Emails were promptly answered which was really nice. Once we arrived we looked over the menus provided by them on their website and emailed our order to them. They said it would take about 45 minutes which was not an issue for us because we were unpacking and getting things straighten around. They called for directions and soon our food was here... This is an exceptional service and I would highly recommend them to anyone to use.. It sure beats cooking the first night there after a long day of travelling.. Give them a try..you won't be dissapointed."

"Akumal is a small village resort. Most of the restaurants serve Mexican oriented menus of average quality. However, Taverna Akumal is an exception. This is an Italian restaurant and it is surprisingly good. It is heads above the other restaurants in the area. The menu selections were varied and the entrees were well prepared. The environment is casual. There is no air conditioning, so dress accordingly. (They do have fans. The wait staff is knowledgeable and ever-present. The food came to the table in a timely manner and at temperature. Overall, this was the best dining experience we had during our five day stay in Akumal."

"Amazing restaurant and a jewel to find. The tacos here cost 1 dollar per taco and they are very generous with the portions. If they had an option of 1-50 Mx I would select that. The pasta takes a while to come out but believe me it is worth every minute waiting. They handmade the pasta dough, then they roll it out and shape it, then they cook it out it in the sauce and serve it to you. Just make sure to bring bug spray!"
