"I've been to Le Parasol for a family dinner in late September. The restaurant itself is average, but the view on the Gironde Estuary is worth the detour. Food was average, and quiet expensive. The staff was friendly but not very busy at this time of the year. I took the Spanish codfish, and unfortunately it had not been desalted."

"We are frequent visitors to St Georges de Didonne as we have a house here. We always eat here at least once and enjoy it every time. We find Bernard and Bianca to be wonderful hosts and Bianca's paella is to die for! (ask for the spicy version if you like a bit of a warmer dish). I would always book a table, especially in the summer when you need to be on time otherwise the table will go as there is always a big demand."

"After having eaten in one of the restaurants on the Route du Front de Mer on our first night in Royan and being very disappointed in the quality of the food and extremely slow service, Aux Delices des Crepes was a real breath of fresh air. We were greeted in a friendly manner by the waiter and given a menu to peruse. He also advised us on some dishes that we were not quite sure of translating them into English. The food arrived promptly and was well presented. I chose a salmon salad, which was delicious and followed it with Cafe Gourmand, which was imaginative and very more-ish. We enjoyed our meals there and in fact visited twice more during our five-night stay. The second and third time we were greeted by the waiter like old friends. The food and service was equally good on each occasion. The cost of the meals was reasonable too. The restaurant was popular with locals too, which is always a good sign."

"A visit in July to this unpretentious restaurant close to the market in Royan with 12 year old grandson in tow. He 's more adventurous about his food than many but still cautious when 'foreign '. We were the first customers in the evening and the staff were excellent. Orders were taken without either rush or delay and they took pains to make the young chap feel relaxed. After some indecision he was persuaded to try the confit since he is known to like duck. After the first mouthful, the next we heard from him was when he asked to have another plate, it was evidently delicious. Of our food I can say little other than it was well presented and delicious since our attention was on his enjoyment. Prices are not high and the range of choice on the menu is good. The staff and service were the thing, excellent. They make the place worth the visit."
