"There is a new restaurant in Montone called Le Fonti di Venere which adds to the choice of excellent dining establishments already available in this wonderful hilltop Umbrian town. It opened about nine months ago and is located just outside the walls of the town....Don't be put off by the rather unprepossessing shop front, i.e. it looks like a cheap fast food joint the sign outside offering pizza and chips really doesn't help its image. However, once you go inside there is a very nice dining room and even a small outdoor dining area should you wish to go al fresco. The restaurant specialises in meat and fish dishes and offers a number of fixed menu or menu fisso options for per head. Alternatively, you can also go down the al a carte route where there is a wide range of antipasti, primi, secondi, etc. dishes available. All the dishes are very reasonably priced, certainly far cheaper than those available in the restaurants located inside the walls of the town. Furthermore, the quality is as good if not better than that available inside the walls. In fact, Le Fonti di Venere would certainly give at least two of these restaurants a run for their money in terms of quality and definitely in terms of price. The restaurant would appear to be very popular with local families (we went on a Friday evening) which is always a good sign and has the feel of a real local trattoria about it. We had a very good meal comprising an antipasto, a main course and a dessert which came to (for two) and also included a good bottle of wine. We can strongly recommend the Cinghiale in Salmi (or wild boar stew) which was absolutely delicious. The staff are very friendly and welcomed us with a complimentary glass of prosecco when we arrived. Overall, Le Fonti di Venere is a very welcome addition to dining out in Montone and we would certainly recommend a visit, you won't be disappointed by the quality and definitely not by the price."
If you crave for sweet treats, Le Fonti Di Venere with its fine desserts can easily make an end of it, and you can look forward to traditional Italian cuisine with classics like pizza and pasta. Furthermore, they offer you tasty seafood dishes, You shouldn't miss the opportunity to try the flavorful pizza, baked fresh in an traditional manner.

"Located in the lovely town of Montone, this restaurant has all the flavours of Umbria. For truffle lovers as I am, there is a big choice and all the plates were delicious. Good selections of pasta and meat, is an ideal place if you want something topical but not obvious. Portions are also generous. On top of everything…it has a really nice terrace where you can enjoy your meal. 10"

"Food was okay. Again, the service was fantastic. The menu offered typical area entrees as well as pizza fries and such. The salad and pasta dishes were very good. Pizza was also good."

"We ordered two Aperol Spritz at the bar and sat right outside along the main square. It was the golden hour before sunset and everyone was out. It was so pleasant to sip our drinks and nibble on bar snacks. Best of all- the drinks were 3 euros each! The bartender was very nice. He could have easily charged the tourists more, but Umbria repeatedly proved itself to be a region of lovely people and beautiful sights. I loved Montone and would strongly consider booking a long-term stay."
