"Excellent meal with friends. Bratwurst was very good. Like the scavenger. Onion soup, too. Filled with apple strudel and vanilla ice cream. Relaxed, clean, a nice little temporary removal from Mexico."

"A testimony from someone poolside, and then TripAdvisor testimonials brought us to the Black Forest. Would never have found it otherwise. It is located right in a residential area, and for me that was quite a bit of the charm.As we approached the restaurant we heard chickens crowing, which is music to the ears of a country boy turned city dweller. After being graciously welcomed and seated, I was able to watch the activities on the street. This is around six on a Wednesday night, so not so busy. The charm here was to observe the children passing by, the last of the day delivery of a beer truck, a dad coming home from work, ladies and children with places to go, an occasional motorcycle or scooter, and the little dog across the way barking at something but not bothering to even stand up. Part of the charm, but not the utimate reason we were there.I won't spend a lot of time on the food and service because that is so well covered by other reviewers, and my wife and I are in agreement. The bread was great, the salads were wonderful, the bratwurst was as good as any I've had, my wife's schnitzel and gravy delighted here as much as her first sip of the Hofbrau House lager. It was such a joy to select good German beer after a month of Corona and Modelo. Wasn't going to have dessert, but had to try the strudel and was rewarded with the best ever.If you really appreciate good food and like being welcomed and served by the owners, do not miss this little taste of Germany."
