"We had a wonderful time last night. A small intimate restaurant where they make you feel as if you are guests in their home. Food was excellent. And in between courses you a treated to some beautiful music. We were not gret fans of opera before we went but will definitely be listening to more now. The family atmosphere, the quirky artwork and the great food and opera made this a wonderful evening. Anxious to go back and try their regular menu as well as their jazz night next."

"Very disappointing dinner, not at all French and less-than-average in taste/ quality. Bad enough to spur me on to write a review. I had the duck à l'orange, which was way too sweet and tasted like an entire jar of cheap marmalade had been dumped on the overcooked duck. My partner had the ravioli, which wasn't as bad as the duck, but definitely not worth the price. The kids shared the John Dory fillet but the kitchen was out of John Dory so we got snapper instead, and while it was meant to be a fillet, there were many bones in it - if it was meant to have bones, it would've been nice to have been given fair warning especially since the waitress knew that our kids (aged 9 and 2) would be eating it! We were initially told that the fryer wasn't working so they'd have to replace fries with mashed potato, but ten minutes later we were informed that the fryer was working after all... The fries were severely overcooked and tasted like frozen fries hastily fried up. All in all one of the worst dinners I've ever had for the price. This place is in a brilliant location; it needs a massive makeover, a new maitre d', and new chefs who can actually cook authentic French food."

"If you want a REAL cup of coffee when you order a flat white instead of a cup of milk with coffee beans waved over the top - then go West Eighty One! We went to Williamstown for lunch on Sunday but could not get a park so we drove on to 81 the esplanade. We spotted the "under new management" sign and decided to give it a try. Instead of lunch however, we spotted the very tempting cakes and we had coffee and cake which was very naughty. I had apple crumble and hubby had chocolate volcano which were both delicious. Meanwhile we were watching the food being brought out to other customers. Regretfully, we are not big eaters so couldn't eat any more but we will be back because the meals looked great. The staff were friendly and welcoming. We walked out of the cafe feeling so happy to have had a nice lunch experience. Good luck Adam and Mario."

"The warning bells rang when we saw a tapas place in Little Bourke, I wish I had listened. My partner and I thought we would give it a crack as we were cold and hungry. After sitting down, we were ignored for about 15 minutes, oh did I say it was very quiet in there?Next we ordered mojitis, which took 25 minutes and was flooded with line syrup. The worst mojito in recorded history. The prawns were cheap frozen prawns and the chorizo was as tough as leather. Be afraid, be very afraid"

"I keep regularly on sushi diane noodle on the way to home from work and collect four sushi reels for $5.00 (I am happy to get this price because I arrive as the take is near for the day). the owner is...more cheerful and the sushi is decent. they also sell sushi with brown rice. it is a small place that is embedded next to a park via the road of melbourne central."
