"We were staying with friends N of Bordeaux and they'd discovered this out of the way gem on a previous visit. The welcome was warm the ambience excellent (helped by the presence of a big, jovial party) and we weren't too near the big fire (one lady brought a fan). We all chose the mid range Saveur menu, €31/37 for 2/3 courses. For starters we had scallops or foie gras, both excellent. For mains we all had the venison, done 3 ways on the open fire, yum. The desserts looked good too but I didn't taste them - didn't want to ruin the taste of the venison and superb local wine - a Cote de Blaye, €24, made by a woman. The owner spoke very good English and her husband is clearly a gifted chef. The other staff were really good too. A very enjoyable evening."

"We had great evenings in Le Doublon. A very friendly place run by Danni and Marie. They put together my 61st birthday bash which went exceptionally well. The bar is a hub for the village and for a number of Brits living in the area. If you are anywhere in the area of Lorignac it is well worth dropping in for a visit. We were most impressed. On our last evening in Lorignacwe had a meal there that hhad been put together by Danni and Marie as part of an event, the food was superb and our farewell heartfelt!"
