"First, some context: my wife is a food snob, and is obsessed with quality and taste. I, on the other hand, prefer quantity over quality. Our stay in the Bologna region was day 3, 4, and 5 of a 16 day driving tour of Italy. We visited Milan, Venice, Bologna, Florence, Cinque Terre, Rome, and the Amalfi Coast. We patronized a significant number of restaurants during our trip. Al Cuntadein was a recommendation from our Hotel owner. Al Cuntadein is located in what I can only describe as an industrial area, surrounded by small manufacturing companies and warehouses. The restaurant 's sign that adorns the Via De Gaspari flashes like Eat at Joe 's . So you can imagine our trepidation when we first arrived at Al Cuntadein. Once inside, all trepidation was lost. Pristine white table cloths and waiters in dinner jackets. An extremely extensive menu, and a very affordable wine list. All I can say is that we enjoyed our first meal so much, that we went back a second time (which as far as I am concerned, is the greatest compliment I can give to any restaurant). If you find yourself in the Emilia Romagna region south of Bologna, PLEASE partake in at least one meal at this restaurant. It will be a memory that you will carry for a lifetime. And a big shout out to Alessandro, our waiter (twice)."
