"We've been wondering why the restaurant is called Am Thor. From the outside, we hadn't talked about it like that. The ambience reminded us of the later GDR years. The guests who sat on the terrace in the direction of Albertplatz also arranged in this time. But we were interested. How is the service, like the food? We went through the door with a little overcoming. There was no human being inside. But it was clean and bright. We put ourselves in the back of the wall. We regret this after 20 minutes, because the waitress overlooked us, found us a wasp for it all the more interesting and the compassion past our table was great to the toilet But we didn't want to implement. We went to the waitress and described her our time pressure. We had planned a short hour here and asked before ordering whether the food could be served within 25 minutes. She was very kind and said her chefs were fast. We ordered a few foods and Latte Macchiato and watched how the young woman literally ran to serve all guests outside alone. She couldn't do anything, but the coffee alone needed another 15 minutes until he was on the table. The food didn't come up until we had to go. We courtly promised to come back after our appointment and to eat the ordered dishes. It wasn't good for us. The service had promised us too much. In the meantime we had had enough time to read out why the Dresdner Restaurant Am Thor was called. It had nothing like spontaneously doing with the young politicians. It was said that the traditional cult restaurant on the Dresdner Hauptstraße with Saxon and German cuisine is not after the Nordic god of thunder, but because the “Black Thor” was close to the fortification facility of the old Dresden. We were back at the date we agreed. Everything was still on our table including empty glass. But the food wasn't ready again. We had to wait another 15 minutes. The reason was to serve it freshly. We spent a lot of time in and with the restaurant Am Thor on the main road. That's why we wouldn't go to lunch. Or maybe because of the nice service power? The extra menu on the table is overwritten with “Bock on tasty?” There are carvings, asparagus cream soup and Saxon quartks. We ordered and ate: carving with potatoes and cauliflower for 14.95 euros. Schopska salad for 8.95 Euro Flamecake Alsace type with Crème Fraîche, bacon and fresh cloth for 11.95 Euro. It tasted good. "In the “Two Linden”, short-stayers, business travelers and athletes sleep. Who wants to visit a special café. You need to create this: quiet yet comfortable, in the green and yet close to the business area. The Hotel „Zwei Linden“ in Ottendorf creates this balancing act. Hidden under high trees, it is located in Radeberger Straße. There's nothing to feel about car traffic. It is no wonder that these benefits have been with the guests. “We are well booked. The number of guests is well above the average of hotels in the Bautzen district,” says owner Sebastian Dietrich. In particular, short stays and business travelers come to the hotel. “They spend about half the nights,” says the owner. The holidaymakers especially appreciate the proximity to the state capital. But even after Meissen or Stolps it's not far. Guests who come to us prefer rural and we also offer it.” says Sebastian Dietrich. In addition to business customers and holidaymakers, athletes often belong to the guests. For example, the house was completely booked at the International Meeting of Sports Acrobats in Ostern in Ottendorf. “We also had the U 16 basketball players from Bayern Munich as well as the best players from the ice hockey clubs from North Rhine-Westphalia. They had games in Dresden and like to play with us,” says Sebastian Dietrich. He and his employee Ronny Wetzel made the house what it is today. It was built in the middle of the 90s. After some precursors Sebastian Dietrich takes over 2003. The native Dresden rented the building until he finally bought it in 2008. “We built it from the pension that it was then the three-star hotel,” says the hotel manager. Sebastian Dietrich learned how the hospitality of the Pike works. After an apprenticeship as a restaurant specialist, he was a restaurant manager in the Fischhaus and in the Elbblick in Pillnitz. Ronny Wetzel is responsible for financing in the “Two Linden”. During his studies in Business Engineering he worked the business plan for the hotel. “Then I stayed here,” he says. Who enters the building for the first time is amazed in size. It has 23 rooms with a total of 70 beds, restaurant and seminar room, which can also be used for family celebrations. There is also a special feature here that is hardly to be found in the region. Candles can be pulled in a special room. Here are several containers in which the wax is heated, there are some working tables. “We call it our candle café. This is what we have set up to offer more changes at family celebrations. The offer is well accepted and not only by children,” says Ronny Wetzel. The hotel has a lot to do. The rooms are now renovated in succession. The restaurant and the kitchen will be expanded in the next few years. Oh, yes, who wants to enjoy the delicious food of the hotel outside can do that of course.
