"The 3 stars is for their billing practice. Let me say we’ve come to Chacala 3 times over a number of years and always enjoyed this place. I will always give them 5 stars for their jalapeño margaritas. They are spicy as I always want them to be. Tonight we had dinner and the pulpo al ajillo was excellent. 4 stars for that. It was the after dinner that was a big problem. We got the bill and it included a 15% tip. I’ve been in Mexico City for a week and 5 days in Chacala and never saw a tip included. I was always given a choice. I went to pay intending to give a tip of my choice, but the grumpy lady processed the card with the tip and an additional charge for the use of a card. No warning. I made a stink and she ended up removing the tip only after we asked the server. I ended up tipping the server because he didn’t deserve being punished. Just know if you use a card, you will be charged a 15% tip and an additional 3% card surcharge, without any warning."
