"Every year we look forward to our visits to Schlössl am See during wintersports. Christopher is an excellent cook who uses only fresh ingredients and prepares the best Italian dishes (we highly recommend the tortellini). Also the service is very friendly, as Anita always takes the time for her guests, even when it's busy. They serve very good wines at very reasonable prices. The setting of the little castle is so beautiful with full view over the lake and the snowy mountains behind it. We even stayed once in their beautiful honeymoon suite, a real recommendation for a romantic stay! Going to Schlössl am See is always a real treat and we will keep on coming! "What a wonderful way to end a hiking day! Conveniently located on a major road between Pontebba (and the connections to Pramollo and Chiusaforte, it does offer an excellent base for a meal or drinks on the way back to Udine. The food is unpretentious and back to basics and what basic! Full of flavour and rich of locally sourced ingredients, it does not disappoint the local palates, that is the reason why the place if often full of locals. The premises are unpretentious and rough, like the real mountaineers of the area. So if you are in for an excellent meal with no frills, this is the place for you. BTW the restaurant featured, with honour, on a national TV series Camionisti in Trattoria (literally Lorry drivers in Local Diners ... you get the point."
