Contribute Feedback What Juliet Hauck doesn't like about Kanbei Japanese Cuisine:
inconsistent. I visit here at least once in the week for the last year or two at the beginning I loved it, but in the last 5-6 months the inconsistency with eating has turned off. I get every time it's different. sometimes they forget the chili, sometimes the brokoli today it was the egg and once they forgot my order together the broth always tastes the same, but the strength in the taste is different every time when... I couldn't believe how much came in our serving dishes as compared to the last time we were there and the prices were higher? Shame on the new owners! I
I found out something new about my dad this weekend: he loves won ton soup, especially the won tons at Bing's and he's been coming here for years.
Got to try their lunch menu today. Can't comment on parking as someone else picked up the food. If I were to describe the food, it would be "mediocre mall
We came by here for dinner (around 5.45pm) after our half-day tour to Hahndorf on a Saturday evening. The CBD was almost like a "ghost town" with all the departmental stores and retail shops closed (along Rundall Mall). Even McDonalds was closed too!We walked towards this place and found that it was one of the few eateries that were still opened and so decided to dine here. The eatery is small with a few tables and chairs inside (of course you can choose to sit outside along the road but the sun was still bright then) but squeezy as one could knock others. The eatery specialises in Japanese cuisine and dishes. There was no one when we arrived and so after looking at the menu on the wall, we ordered a Char Siew Ramen (A$10) and a Unagi Bento (A$12). A Chinese lady who manned the counter took our orders and she served us with the food later on. No complaints about the service though this lady was playing with her phone most of the time in between taking orders and serving food. While the portion of our food was considered "big size" with a reasonable price, the standard could be better. The ramen soup was overly salty, vegetables were too hard to chew and the half cooked egg was not fresh. As for the Unagi Bento set, portion was ok but again the sauce was too salty and the rice was "hard" too. Usually for Japanese Bento, vegetables should not mix together with the meat (in this case the Unagi). In addition, ginger, miso soup and fruit should also be provided too but lacking. The only taste we had was "salt" and we had to drink so much water later that evening.During our eating, a few passers-by came in and bought some sushi on quick-sale promotions which seemed cheap (about A$5 for a good 10-12 pieces) but after trying the food, we decided to pass it.Overall, the food here were edible but not at all satisfactory and could be better. (actually I do have photos to share but not sure why the upload photo's function is not available, possibly because I am the first reviewer)
It was out! immersed for a quick lunch between meeting, picking up an egg roll and sashimi box. When I arrived at the office, I discovered that the sashimi was gone! it smells like foul and makes me and the other coworkers. I quickly returned to find the articles only that the staff was rude and asked why I would also like to return the eier role! my appetit was safe. I will not come back.
