"I love lunch dishes. They are a reasonable size and the price is according to their size and ingredients. It seems to me that the menu needs a revamp with other dishes. It seems to me that if you just want to have a coffee, there should be a little more sweet and savory pastry options. The place is very small (maximum 5 tables) but they always keep it clean. The service is excellent; They serve quickly and always in a very good way!!!"

"First off, all the great reviews were warranted. The service was top notch. The food was fresh and tasty and the atmosphere was really cool. The desserts were the highlight, especially the passion fruit tort. The only strange thing was that we couldn't order the Vietnamese bowl without mushrooms or any of the meat secondary add ons. They couldn't even put it on the side. I'm not sure if the wait staff didn't want to go against the menu or what the deal was, but that was pretty bizarre. We had to literally pick the mushrooms out of our son's bowl. I know that sounds petty given the quality of everything aforementioned, but it is a kind nudge to the restaurant to be a tad bit open to the requests. Still, I would gladly go back and recommend Cafe Rojo to anyone in town who wanted to eat well and have a wonderful experience while in San Jose."

"Never again, overpriced, tasteless, bad quality and the chef apparently no experience since the food has this low standard. DO BETTER NOT EAT HERE !! Steak thin and dry, no medium like ordered. I eat the same before in a small restaurant next to the road in Quepos and it was half the price and waaaaay better."

"I have never had whole fried oyster mushrooms until this place. I had already loved oyster mushrooms but goodness Huaca Mole made me fall in love all over again. The mushrooms were amazing, the vegan chickn sandwich was good. Everything was so tasty and I also really loved the Yerba Mate kombucha they had. The atmosphere was great the service was wonderful and it is located in an awesome area (Barrio Escalante). Everything I tried was wonderful (minus the activated charcoal burger bun, just not a fan of that trend). I loved the food here and I will definitely go back when I am back in Costa Rica!"

"Best quality pepperoni I've ever had on a pizza... Pizzas look to be around 12 inches... Big enough to share for most. Just great quality overall. Small place with six or seven tables inside and one or two outside. This is up there with many of the best small pizzerias I've eaten at in the United States."
