as already said, sumo san is the best sushi restaurant in almaty, with a specific environment and friendly staff. it was full in the evening, so I couldn't walk around even though I liked what I experienced. the menu is very diverse with rolls, sushi, ramen, salates and drinks. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Sumo San:
Casual atmosphere if you are for sushi. Amount of rice(shari) is too much. California rolls are basically tasty due to lots of cream cheese. Among Other dishes, udon and tonkatsu and curry was nice. But Kimchi based foods, Cold udon, cold soba wasn't tasty at all. Staffs are kind but they usually forget orders, and it takes so long whenits served View all feedback.
Food is nice but service could be faster. No menu in English or Qazaq. The restaurant is fully oriented to Russian speakers only which is pretty discrimintive giving that it is located in Almaty, KZ.

Very good Japanese restaurant. the place itself has a beautiful mood, the personal is friendly. the sushi was not the best I ever tried, reis was a bit too dry. the suppe on the other side was excellent, really good. all in all I can recommend the place.
Very nice, cozy. we went there 4 times during the stay in the city and were never disappointed. btw sushi came in a cool boot. my fav was as simple as chuka salat and cocktail Japanese flower.
Food was very good, nice atmosphere. Only downside it was a bomber quite expensive
