"The Coup de gras after I ran the Des Moines Marathon: I went down to see Dirt Burger in downtown Des Moines. What I got was the best veggie burger no, the best BURGER I ever had. Why? It was muddy and savory, saucy and full of different textures. It was a perfect mouth. Like a big Mac, only without the disappointing patty and bread in the middle. I know you'll say I forgot and taste like meat. No. I know for some people the ideal burger is a meat patty with fat that runs down your arm. I understand. I have preferred a veggie burger, and I think that is more interesting with many impractical tastes, and it's health food except that with so many whole food ingredients it is somehow. But it felt really exhausting for me, especially when I recommended it with their real potato frits and the tiger sauce the staff. And she was right. As they once said on my beloved show boss! with Lenny Henry, I never had a liquid as good as in my life. They had vegan shakes that looked absolutely amazing, but I had no one to share, and I knew that I would be in pain after I had everything in... I'm funny too, but I had a granola in the hotel room I was pretty excited about. Anyway, all this and gluten-free as I ordered it on the GF reel. The staff was also incredibly friendly. I'm seriously jealous that Iowa has this joint, but it's all for the best as I would win 5 lb a week if this place was on the street."

"We were excited to try. We sat at the bar with Bailey as a bartender. A veteran on the whole way sat with him and mentioned that it was his birthday, so I paid his bill without knowing him. I heard he said Bailey, he paid the tip in cash, so when I signed my cc reception (because she asked me to do it right away), I confirmed that he already typed it. She told me he had it. Red flag #1. We ordered a bottle of wine and our dinner. Our salads came out quickly. Then... nothing. We wanted a bread basket. We ate all the bread. Then... nothing. People came, ate, drank, got their bills and left. Bailey wouldn't look at us. We made several bets. When our bottle of wine was gone, we asked Bailey about our food. She said she'd check it out. Something happened. 20 minutes left until she finally got up, she doesn't have to have the order. We're at this place for two hours. She brought us a check. I didn't pay for it. She has a manager who was less than apologetic. It sounded like it was OUR fault that the order was never filed. They composed the 2 salads and wine. And as if we were grateful. Probably will decide for a hot dog and a popcorn at the concession next time."

"I contacted the store manager Tonia about catering food for our graduation. She was absolutely wonderful and bent over backwards to help. We ended up ordering through the Asian department, with her help, and she went and personally checked in on our order to make sure it was accurate. She did this more than once. The manager from the Asian department was phenomenal, too. The food was hot and fresh and we received great feedback at the party. We had such a great experience we will share it with everyone and will use this Hyvee again. Thank you Tonia!!"

"Gem in Iowa. 5 stars are not even enough. Atmosphere is fantastic. My server was on his first day of work and he did an amazing job! They have a wide selection of wines. Name it prolly they have it. The manager is very attentive making sure she gets to great every guest and opens the bottle of wine for them. Their Halibut is a must try. And don?t forget to get a slice of their carrot cake. I swear the best ever. Trust me I?ve been to 9 different countries and multiple cities."

"Trivia Tuesday was a blast... regardless of coming in last place : my friend and I will be definitely back and aiming for that 1st place spot! Thanks to the bartender, Jon, he wouldn't let us leave sore losers. He was great!! Super attentive and informed us about a locally grown antioxidant berry (which was delicious . To top it off he offered us a to go juice for the road. Doesn't get better than that!! 10/10 for sure!!"

"The food was delicious when it finally came. It was close to 45 minutes from the time the appetizer plates were removed from the table before our food actually came out. Never really received an explanation why but noticed several people around us had the same problem."
