Great place to stay. Everything was first class from the room and staff to the incredible vegan breakfast. For what you get the price is amazingly low. Very walkable locations. View all feedback.
What Carole Ward doesn't like about Ambleside Manor:
I visited this restaurant because of their advertisement for vegan ice cream. They offer about 5-6 flavors, but only chocolate and vanilla are vegan. The only vegan cake available is a carrot cake, which feels like a missed opportunity considering the variety of options that most restaurants offer these days. I also found it odd that they serve non-vegan-certified alcohol, since many filtering agents used in alcohol,... View all feedback.
Stayed here recently and would certainly recommend. The rooms are very comfortable, well equipped, clean. Breakfast is excellent, everything a vegetarian or vegan could want, e.g. scrambled tofu, mushrooms, soya yoghurt, freshly made fruit salad. Owners and staff are very friendly, there was a log fire in the dining and sitting rooms.
Ambleside Manor is a beautiful period building, in its own grounds, exquisitely furnished, two minutes walk from the town centre. The veggie/vegan breakfasts are terrific, the staff are friendly and helpful, and they do package deals with co-owned venues Fellinis and the town cinemas. All you need for a brilliant holiday in the Lake District.

We spent our Christmas holiday here and were delighted by the attention given to vegans. The staff demonstrated a strong understanding of our dietary needs and presented us with delicious meals. Breakfast was especially excellent, featuring a variety of hot and cold options, including freshly baked vegan apricot croissants. During our stay, we also dined at Fellinis and Zeffirellis, both of which offered fantastic vegan options as part of the package.
I have stayed here many times in the past without any problems, but my last visit was a significant disappointment. There are new managers, and several issues arose during my stay. Firstly, there was a large patch of mold on the bedroom wall, and multiple areas showed signs of water damage. Additionally, the fridges designated for storing guests' milk were being used by other guests to keep meat. I understand that not every visitor to a vegetarian hotel may be vegetarian, but still, this was surprising. Lastly, we had to request a change of bedding, as everything provided was down feather. It was really disappointing to see this, especially since they promote themselves as a veggie/vegan establishment.
