Last minute stay for work. Had a very warm welcome and lovely stay. Room was quiet and comfy, the robes are a great touch. The building is really quirky but with modern fixtures so it definitely doesn’t feel old fashioned and tired. Food in the restaurant was tasty, as was breakfast the next morning. Treated to an 'afternoon tea ' as a birthday present, but was left so disappointed by the food. The sandwiches were fine, especially if you like cheese and pickle, but not 'special ' as you would expect. Worse was the cakes which were almost certainly shop bought and not home baked.
