"Visited on a beautiful sunny day so outside dining at the picnic bench, fab views to Arran and Skipness Castle. Scallops in garlic butter were delish with fresh salad and breads! A hidden gem, only negative not much menu choice for kids."

"Our experience with this place was an utter disappointment. We had so much expectations since Google states that it is top rated in the area and Tarbert usually gets fresh fish and has a good reputation... Firstly, the staff was poorly trained and the oldest woman served us as if she was throwing a dish to dogs, as our starter literally clattered into the table. The glass in which my wine was served was dirty and upon my request to have a new glass I was met with a disdained glance and the waitress came back with the same glass half full with still the old wine and was just polished . The mains were basic, certainly not worth their prices! You will eat better food in other places spending less! Didn 't taste as fresh as one would expect. The crumble (dessert) looked like a slob and clearly between the chef and staff there was something going on... Please note the menú and the rating are not the same as the past. Be aware that the high ratings come from a long time ago and do not be fooled like we were!"

"Stopped in for some lunch with our 7 month baby. The staff kindly offered us a high chair for her. Vegan food clearly shown on separate board. I opted for vegan chilli on jacket potato while my husband went for the spaghetti Bolognese. Both very tasty and filling. Updated from previous review on 2021-07-15"

"Really nice place on the island . There aren't many choises to eat on Gigha and luckily it's a very good one. It's not big but then, the the island is small with just a few tourists. Lobsters are caught locally! Very good prices and friendly staff. Sad it was raining (in scotland because the view is amazing ."

"An excellent seafood experience, not on the cheap side £55 per person) but worth the expense. Lunch booked for 14.30 by phone on a Monday and the person who received the booking was polite an accommodating. When we arrived the tables outside were almost all full but the space inside was relatively free, warm and inviting. The Boathouse offers beers and ales from FyneAles and we had one Fyne Lager Scottish helles slightly stronger and hoppier than ordinary bocks) and a Highlander an amber ale with a nutty, caramel-malt body and a slightly bitter finish). For starters we shared a Cullen Skink which was delicious one of the best we tasted in Scotland), 3 grilled langoustines and pan fried broccoli florets with cashews, pomegranates and a sweet pomegranate sauce. As mains we had two of their famous Pan Roasted Gigha Halibut dishes served with tenderstem brocolli, ginger veloute, wild mushroom and baby potatoes and one 'classic ' fish and chips dish with battered haddock, tripled cooked handcut chips, chunky tartar , and mashed peas. Every dish was excellent and the service very professional. A gastronomic experience not to be missed!"

"In large cities they expect to find a first class restaurant. in remote wilderness areas, they probably wouldn't have this expectation, which is why this is so extraordinary. the effortless cordiality that david gives out in front of the house is matched by excellent food from clare’s kitchen. add a reasonable weeping list and quietly effective waiting staff and they have an unforgettable experience."
