"Dropped in here for a late breakfast as it looked like a fairly trad retro restaurant. On further investigation it wasn't really that but just a rather dated original decor. Anyway it's a cafe so no big deal. We ordered breakfast and the staff although friendly and helpful appeared a bit harassed as a few customers had all come in at the same time. I ordered eggs Benedict which was received with apparent dismay and was informed we may have to wait a bit as they were very busy. My wife ordered poached eggs on toast. Unfortunately, she sent hers straight back as she could hardly get a fork through the eggs. My Benedict was much the same consistency with a lettuce leaf, half a tomato and a splurge of sauce from a jar on top. I was famished so I soldiered on. Asked if we had enjoyed our food we had to tell the truth that no one there could apparently poach an egg, even my wife's replacement was bordering on going solid. The bill was £8 and the waitress gave us £5 refund and apologised. We declined and said that was not necessary. However, the lady in charge returned and insisted we take the refund and apologised rather embarrassed. Full marks to them for trying to make things right but they really need to be able to cook an egg."
