5 star food, 1 star waiting. We waited about 2 hours in the line, with the line starting in the parking lot on the water (see my picture). 5 star food, 1 star waiting. We waited about 2 hours in the line, with the line starting in the parking lot on the water (see my picture). Many people criticism says their best lobster role they had in Maine. I'll be honest and say it wasn't the best lobster I had, but it was certainly the biggest lobster I had. They stuff the roll with 2 3 times the amount of lobster put other places. It had essentially lobster with one side of the bungalow. A good lobster for me has the prefect balance between lobster and buns. We also ordered the fired scallops that were phenomenal. Would I wait again? No, I wouldn't be in this line again for two hours. But I'm glad I only experienced this great Maine classic. I hope this review will help you decide whether you are waiting for the line for the 2 hours!
Let me first say this place is worth every minute of waiting! I waited 2 hours and met several people from other parts of the country. Had a great visit and even great shrimps in the line. The service when I got the front of the line was top notch. The people I know were friendly/informative/efficient. The lobster rolls? Not only the most delicious thing I ever had, but TONS of fresh lobsters on the roll. They were served with hot butter. We also got the onion rings and they were unique with a delicious sauce! The big surprise here was she offered 100% beef hot dogs for only $1! That was able to compensate for the amount we spent on adults and shave the children around them! Understand? Go ahead!
5 star food, 1 star waiting. Granted, they can not help and they do their best to spend water, parasols and the occasional snack for your trip the line. You need to know you're gonna wait, and you have to agree. We ordered lobster rolls, because obviously that's what you're going for. I can't say they were better than the best lobster I had, but there were enough lobster meat for 2 rolls on 1 roll. I couldn't even say there was a bun down there. Bun was roasted with butter (definite must) and had the lobster up. Comes with one side of butter and then Mayo on request. We waited 2 hours on Saturday of the working day, and roles were $25/ea at the time. Not sure I would wait again, but it was definitely at least once to do.
We stood in line for over 2 hours, and I kept hoping it would be as good as our friends had told us. We were not disappointed at all! We both ordered the lobster roll; I got fries, my husband got onion rings. The lobster roll had so much lobster on it you could not see the roll underneath. And the price is only $25! While in line, we were offered cold water, a piece of fried shrimp, an umbrella (it was sunny), and a freeze pop! ?Very nice of them to consider their customers as they stood outside in a long line. It was well worth the wait! We?ll definitely go back!
I gave this 3 stars not because food was bad, it just wasn 't really to our liking. We ordered the Lobster Roll, Side of Fried Scallops, Basket of Fried Shrimp Fries, Side of Fried Shrimp, Fried Clam Bellies, Large Onion Rings, Lemonade and the blueberry cake. Came out to a little over $135.00. We ordered the Lobster Roll with a side of Mayo Butter. I really liked it! Bread was nice and toasted and had lots of Lobster on it. My husband didn 't really care for it though. Wasn 't bad, just didn 't wow him. The Fried Shrimp was very good! Batter was crispy and flavorful. The side of Shrimp had more quantity of Shrimp then the Shrimp basket came with. Now for the Scallops, Onion Rings and the Clam Bellies......as much as we really wanted to like these, none of us did. It was mainly the batter. The batter was soggy. We like our Fried batter to be crisper. And I think I learned I don 't care for my Scallops to be Fried. 1st and last time will ever order them Fried. You can taste the Scallops better when they 're seared or grilled. The Lemonade was fresh squeezed and delicious. And all the employees were incredibly nice. All very friendly, helpful and Excellent customer service. We heard of 2 to 3 hour waits so we arrived 30min before they opened. There were about 20 people already lined up ahead of us. When they opened up at 11:30am, it took maybe another 30min for us to order. It was nice for them to offer samples while we waited. Make sure to bring plenty of cash with you. They only except cash.
