The service staff was excellent, and responsive to all concerns. Decor lovely. Husband had best chicken fried steak brisket) he’d ever had. Still working out a few kinks as a new restaurant, but deserves to succeed! Will definitely be back and spread the word. View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Kitchen Del Mar:
Had dinner on a Friday night. We were greeted by very friendly staff, and checked up on by periodically. Although a booth was requested, we were seated in the middle of a relatively empty restaurant. The waitress we had “acted” confident, but was new didn’t know the menu, or understand dietary requests. She also didn’t know about any happy hour, specials even though their website said it was from 4 10 The food was pr... View all feedback.
I suspect the owners are still getting things together but we had a great meal, very nice environment, and nice people. Six of us had a great table and enjoyed the ambiance. Our server was new that day (seems common now) but was very nice and helpful. I had the halibut and it was outstanding. Will definitely go back and wish them the best.
This is the 3rd reboot of this restaurant location and this is the best! (We've eaten at all 4: Pasta House, Ray's 827, Kitchen on the Bend, now Kitchen Del Mar. Although the name suggests a seafood focus, the menu offers small plates, pizza, soups salads, in addition to a variety of main courses. What we've eaten so far is very delicious! The bar service wines are very satisfactory. The decor has changed by adding a long bar in the main dining room, freshening the side bar room, expanding the outside covered Porch for live music al fresco dining, and kept the original pizza oven. It appears that the front deck is being expanded.
I recognize that seafood is expensive but their veggies, pasta and flatbread was not up to par. Our waitress was terrible and the room was hot and stuffy.
The restaurant is a nice place. The food was good. The hostess waited on us for lack of waitstaff. She did a great job. Unfortunately, it was very hot in there and there were many flies. We couldn't figure out where they came from. When we first arrived the music was thumping, but it eventually changed and came down in volume. It seems like this new place still has to work out some of the kinks. It is pretty expensive to have all of that going on.
The food was good. The food server was sweet but seemed a bit disorganized. The ceviche could have used some lime or something. I ordered lamb chop medium but had to send it back to get cooked more but it’s was then perfect. They didn’t seem to know what dishes had gluten in them which should just be on the menu at this point in life. We would come again.
