We had high hopes for this place, but the experience was pretty average. The food was decent and our server was very nice. However, the ambience was very plain and it was hard to have a conversation once more people started coming in. We enjoyed the food, Christiano our server was friendly and efficient, the music was a bit loud and the room has lots of hard surfaces so was very reverberant. Once more than a few tables were occupied it became very difficult to maintain a conversation.
I went for brunch with two girlfriends and this was one of the tastiest meals I have had in a while! The salmon toast is fresh, a little spicy and delicious. The short rib benedict is great and easy to split with a friend. Oh, and the Ramos gin fizz went down very smoothly, too. Highly recommend.
My husband and I ate brunch here and we will not be going back. The service, although very friendly, was extremely slow. My husband ordered 3 eggs and was brought 6. He also ordered his French toast with sauce on the side, it came drenched. I ordered a short stack of pancakes, what came would not even qualify as a child’s portion. The overall quality was very disappointing.
It was almost empty and very quiet. Soup and salad were good and devilled eggs were yummy. I went for restaurant week and think I paid a bit more than the menu price
Excited to see a solid American bistro experience in this part of town. Great array of menu options. Our orders were well prepared and yummy. Food felt very fresh and fussed over. Felt a bit pricy for more solid than wow food. The overall experience would have benefitted from a more creative cocktail list, more polished and better paced service, and a bit more warmth to the decor. We were seated in a sort of side room that felt oddly unfinished/under furnished. We had the pimento cheese with crackers yummy and a good portion of both cheese and the crackers (which seemed house made and great). The farro bowl and crispy potatoes were the table favs. Chicken cutlet was meh, and the farmhouse salad with grilled shrimp was really lovely. Some of the best cocktails in a austin are around the corner on north loop, so I hope that area gets a bit more attention, especially at $14 each. Candlelight or more warm ambient light would go a long way, too.
