What JAY likes about The Pit Barbeque:
First, I don't think that being caught illegally parking in The Pit's spaces gives anybody a right to give them a bad review. I ate there regularly from 1978 to 2001 when I moved from Austin. I love these modest family owned and operated places. The food was consistently good, prices reasonable, and service friendly. read moreThe Pit BBQ in Austin has been a beloved spot for locals, serving up delicious barbecue with a welcoming atmosphere. The family-owned and operated restaurant has been a staple in the community for decades, offering consistently good food at reasonable prices. Visitors rave about the tender brisket and chicken, as well as the refreshing big red soda with crushed ice. The recent addition of a new trailer in the back has added to the charm of the place. While some reviewers have noted the need for a lighter touch from the sandwich maker, overall, the experience at The Pit BBQ is one of great food and friendly service. Whether you're a long-time regular or a first-time visitor, this spot is a must-visit in Austin for some delicious Texas barbecue.
The Wednesday Special Turkey plate for under $8 with coleslaw & potato salad hit the spot as the joint serves nice quick lunch.
Theres a reason this place has 3 stars and its not cause you get booted for parking there.
The brisket was dry and the sausage was okayIt was dark and difficulty to park.
