"We live near to Avila and have often eaten at the restaurant in the Parador but have never been particularly impressed. We were in Avila yesterday and decided to give the restaurant another chance. We had an excellent table overlooking the garden and the room was light and airy. Despite being nearly full, noise levels were fine and service generally good. This is Avila, so there is a focus on beef, but contrary to previous visits there were a mixture of traditional and imaginative starters and we had an excellent salad to start, combining roasted red peppers, apple and goats cheese with lettuce and tomato. We then had free range cockerel in a traditional tomato based sauce again very good. There was also a wide range of traditional and other desserts. Cost with wine, water and coffee was 100 euros which we felt was reasonable given the quality and quantity of the food."
